Work. Home. Relationships. The mental load follows you everywhere.
Sometimes the problem isn't that you can't cope. It's that you've been coping with too much for too long.

The load isn't only the tasks you can see.
It's remembering what needs to happen. Planning ahead. Anticipating problems. Making decisions. Keeping track of appointments, school, work, relationships and what everyone needs next.
It can also be carrying other people's emotions, worrying about whether everyone is okay, and feeling responsible for keeping things running.
When those responsibilities build over time, even someone who is usually very capable can begin to feel overwhelmed.
Counselling isn't simply about helping you become better at carrying all of it. We can also look at what you're carrying, what it's costing you, and what might need to change.

I'm also a mother of two and stepmother of three, and I understand some of the complexities that can come with parenting, blended families, divorce and co-parenting. I've experienced the 'juggle' of parenting, work and study, the competing responsibilities, deadlines and mental load that can come with trying to keep multiple parts of life moving at once.
With this comes different roles at the same time, mother, stepmother, daughter, sister, auntie, friend, employee and leader. Each can be meaningful, but together they can also leave very little space for the person underneath all those roles.
I don't assume that my experiences are the same as yours. Your circumstances, relationships and experiences are uniquely your own. But my own experiences have shaped my understanding of how easy it can be for women's needs to move further and further down the list.
My approach to counselling isn't about helping you become more efficient at carrying everything. It's about creating space to understand what's happening, what you're carrying, the expectations or patterns that may be contributing to it, and what YOU need too.
Our work might involve anxiety, burnout, mental load, guilt, boundaries, relationships, perfectionism, self-worth, identity or simply finding your way back to a stronger sense of yourself.
You spend a lot of your life thinking about what other people need.
Counselling is one place where the focus can be on you.

Not at all. A lot of the women I see aren't in crisis. They are just tired, stretched thin, or sense something isn't quite right and want to get ahead of it before it becomes burnout. Counselling can be preventative, not just reactive.
That's completely normal, and it's actually a really common reason people come to counselling. You don't need a diagnosis or a tidy explanation before you start. Part of what we do together is figure out what's actually going on underneath the experience, feelings, emotions and overwhelm.
Yes. Most people's stress doesn't stay neatly in one box, and yours doesn't need to either. We can talk about whatever is weighing on you, whether that's your job, your kids, your relationship, family, expectations, or all of it at once.
The free 20-minute Connect Session is designed exactly for this. It's a low-pressure way to meet, ask questions, and get a feel for whether I am a good fit for you before you commit to anything.
This is not a crisis care service. If you have an urgent medical need please dial 000 or for urgent mental health support contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636
